Fifth Grade State Reports

The Fifth Grade students recently worked independently, getting support from their teacher and parents, to research a state of their choice and prepare a report on it. The reports included a hand-drawn map of the state showing major cities, geographical features and points of interest as well as bordering states, countries and bodies of water.  Students also wrote descriptions of the landscapes and climate along with the plants and animals that are found within. Reports also included information about the state’s natural resources, major industries and popular recreational activities. Most importantly, the students included information about the peoples and tribes that inhabited the region long before statehood. States that the students chose included Montana, Louisiana, and California.
