Monarchs at Ashwood

Monarch caterpillars are munching on the butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) seedlings that were planted by the Agricultural Arts students! This picture was taken at the kiosk, where—if you look closely on opening day—you may find some very hungry, very happy caterpillars. Ms. Swan, our Agricultural Arts Teacher, and her young helpers have been collecting some of the munchers for gentle relocation to a monarch house, both to protect the new plants and to give the students a close-up view of the life cycle of these marvelous creatures. The monarch house is located in the foyer of the Grade School building.
