What Is a Forest Kindergarten? See the Film, "School's Out: Lessons from a Forest kindergarten."

On Sunday, August 10, Ashwood hosts two free showings of the film, “School’s Out: Lessons from a Forest Kindergarten.” The short film will be presented at the Rockland Public Library at 2:00 p.m., and again at 4:00 p.m. at Ashwood’s early-childhood center at 180 Park St. Childcare will be provided for both screenings.

Ashwood’s Forest Kindergarten program, the first in the Rockport area, will offer a full Waldorf kindergarten experience, outdoors. Fall, winter, and spring, in all weathers, children will enjoy seasonal activities, circle time, gardening, forest walks, and creative free play. The Forest Kindergarten movement is growing rapidly in the U.S. after more than 40 years’ success in Europe and Scandinavia.

Both film showings are free. Please call by Friday, August 8, to register: 207.236.8021

Merry Berry Summer @ Ashwood Waldorf School
Aug 20 @ 9:00 am – 10:30 am

Ashwood Waldorf School is celebrating the fruits of summer with three free events in July and August for children ages 4 – 6 yrs. and their families. All events take place from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., rain or shine.

On July 19 at Ashwood Waldorf School, children are invited to make (and eat!) strawberry ice cream, hear a story, and take a guided walk.

On August 5 at Laite Beach in Camden, children will use fresh ingredients to make (and enjoy!) berry lemonade. They’ll hear a tale told by one of Ashwood’s early-childhood teachers and have time to play in the park.

On August 20 at Ashwood Waldorf School, blueberries are in the spotlight. Children are invited to help make (and eat!) blueberry pancakes, listen to a story, and play circle games.berry2
