April Snowstorm Inspires “Poetree”

Ashwood students across the grades were given optional assignments to do during this stay-at-home Spring Break. One assignment was to write some “poetree.” Having weathered a fierce snowstorm, the birch trees were bending and reminding many of us of the lovely Robert Frost poem, “Birches”:

When I see birches bend to left and right
Across the lines of straighter darker trees,
I like to think some boy’s been swinging them.
But swinging doesn’t bend them down to stay
As ice-storms do.
..

Taking Frost and springtime as her inspiration, Ashwood sixth-grader Hettie, wrote “The Ladybug’s Birch”. We know you’ll love it as much as we do!
