Alumni Spotlight: Nadejda Stancioff ’06

Photo: Nadejda paragliding in Colorado

After Ashwood, I attended Camden Hills Regional High School and graduated with a desire to explore! I spent six months working and saving money and then six months hitchhiking through New Zealand and working on organic farms, before returning for my first year at Mount Holyoke College where I studied psychology and education. After college, I returned to Maine to work for the Restorative Justice Project. I had the privilege of coordinating programming for our two southernmost counties. In 2017 I bicycled across the country with my dad, which was never-ending fun. After reaching the West Coast, my partner and I traveled around the states, living in our Toyota Tacoma for four months before landing in Colorado for a while. I moved back to Maine from Colorado in 2018, and spent the summer building a 12×16 foot house with my partner. I began working for New Hope for Women and am a school-based advocate at Oceanside High School. I am also working on my Masters in Social Work and due to complete that this spring. While out West, I learned how to paraglide and have been able to bring that passion back to Maine for flights off of Bald Mountain! I’ve also been working for my dad and learning about sheet metal fabrication.

I’m always happy and excited to connect with Ashwood students and parents who may be interested in hearing about my Waldorf experience and transition afterwards.

If you would like to talk to Nadejda about her experiences at Ashwood, contact the office.
