Giving to the Ashwood Waldorf School

Like all non-profit independent schools, Ashwood relies on a combination of funding sources to support its operations. Your tax-deductible gifts help us to accomplish many things, including:

We invite you to consider supporting one or more of the following giving opportunities at the Ashwood Waldorf School.

Annual Appeal

Ashwood’s annual fundraising effort is initiated each fall with the mailing of the annual appeal letter.  Gifts can be made to the annual appeal throughout the year.  Proceeds from the annual appeal are unrestricted and support the school’s general fund, which provides needs-based scholarships and supports vital school operations not covered by tuition revenues.

Spring Challenge
The Spring Challenge takes place each May.  The challenge is instrumental in helping Ashwood successfully achieve its annual giving goals and inspires school community participation in annual giving.  Over the last several years community participation in annual giving has ranged from 95 – 100%, an outstanding achievement for a small independent school.

Annual Spring Gala & Auction
This much-loved event takes place in early April each year.  Attended by over 300 people including school parents, grandparents, faculty/staff and the outside community, the Spring Gala and Auction has become the event not to miss.  The auction catalog is available in mid-March and can be accessed by clicking here.  Bidding is available on-line for those unable to attend.

Restricted Funds

Future Fund

The Future Fund was established in 2002 to receive gifts earmarked for Ashwood’s next capital campaign.  In 2004, the Future Fund received two $50,000 anonymous gifts from a component fund to the Maine Community Foundation, forming an important cornerstone for the school’s capital fundraising effort.  Those interested in supporting capital fundraising at Ashwood can make restricted gifts to the Future Fund.  Information about capital projects can be obtained by contacting the Development Director.

Vivaldi Project – Making a difference by making music.
This collaborative program of the Ashwood Waldorf School and the Odeon Youth String Ensemble seeks to enrich children’s lives through musical education.  With generous donor support, we have established an instrument lending library and offer dynamic master classes with professional musicians.  Our collaboration with Odeon extends the reach of this program and provides an innovative model for other organizations seeking to inspire young musicians.
