Employment Opportunities

Ashwood Waldorf School is situated on a spectacular 32-acre hillside campus with views of the Camden Hills, in the incomparably beautiful midcoast area of Maine. Thriving in our 22nd year, we currently have about 130 students enrolled. Our faculty strives to work and study together artfully, out of the indications of Rudolf Steiner. We share beliefs that guide us in our work: a willingness to grow and develop, both individually and as a school; to work mindfully; to teach creatively and with love; and to nurture a supportive and active community. We have a strong in-house mentoring program and outside teachers visit on a regular basis.

The midcoast area of Maine offers a superb quality of life. Spectacular coastline, pastoral farmlands, pine forests and charming New England villages provide the backdrop for four seasons of unparalleled beauty. (Log on to www.visitcamden.com for a peek.) Nearby Camden Harbor is home to many fine old schooners and yachts. Opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts (boating, skiing, hiking, camping, etc.) abound. Acadia National Park is two hours to the north.

Indian Island Lighthouse

The midcoast area enjoys a rich and diverse cultural life. The Rockport and Camden Opera Houses and the Strand Theater in Rockland offer a broad selection of live performances. There are ample choices for artistic endeavors, educational enrichment and alternative healing. Several local farms practice biodynamic gardening and offer produce for sale. Additionally, midcoast Maine boasts many and varied local artisans who produce and sell products as varied as cheeses, skin care, soap, furniture, blankets, glass, pottery, wine and chocolates. Maine’s two largest cities, Portland and Bangor--homes to notable symphonies, museums and professional theatre companies--are both an hour-and-a-half away.

The colleague we are seeking will bring a passion for teaching and an enthusiastic commitment to join us as we guide our school into the future. Waldorf training and/or Waldorf teaching experience is preferred. Benefits include health insurance, tuition remission, and faculty development support.
