Pentathlon 2021

Despite the hot and humid weather, our Pentathlon athletes performed with grace, speed, accuracy, and good sportsmanship. The event began with odes to a pantheon of Greek gods, followed by a rendition of “Chanson pour les petits enfants,” to the accompaniment of ukulele and recorder. Then, fifth and sixth graders, assisted by classmates in other grades, competed in javelin, wrestling, discus, long jump, and sprinting. The athletic events ended with a spirited relay.

The Pentathlon is an annual rite of passage for Ashwood’s 5th graders. This year, the 5th graders were joined their older classmates who missed their event last spring due to the pandemic. For many years Ashwood has joined with several other schools in New England and Quebec for an international Pentathlon event. We hope this tradition will continue next year!
